Provide reservation for BCS in proportion to their population, demand BRS MLC

Khammam: Telangana Jagagrathi president and BRS MLC Kavith expressed concern over the state government’s decision to provide only 42 percent reservation to the BCS and demanded that reservation should be provided as per the population ratio.

The MLC on Saturday attended a round table meeting organized by Telangana Jagarthi with the BC Association. Addressing the gathering, he said that according to the wrong data given by the government, the BCS population is 46 percent in the state and with a re-survival, it could increase by another 1.5 or 2 percent.

Thus, the BC population will be estimated to be around 48 percent. He said, “If 48 percent of the 48 percent reservation would be provided, 42 percent reservation would be provided,” he questioned that 56 percent reservation should be given jointly to Muslims and BCS.

Kavita complained that the BJP was trying to create a rift between Hindus and Muslims on the issue of reservation. “Reservation should be provided to Muslims according to their population ratio. The government should reveal the population of every caste village, ”he demanded.

He reminded that BRS worked hard for the development of BCS and as part, party party posts were providing 51 percent reservation to BCS. Telangana awareness will continue to fight for justice for BCS, he said.

Earlier in the day, Kavitha met a BRS worker Lakkineni Surendra, who was arrested and sent to jail in Khammam Jail, in illegal cases by the government. He alleged that BRS workers were being illegally arrested without any reason, and the leaders who were questioning the government’s failures were being targeted.

She was angry that the government was misusing the SC/ST Atrocities Act in targeting BRS workers. Farmers, students, women and all sections of society were angry with the government as nothing was done for their welfare during the 14 -month Congress rule, Kavita said. BRS leaders Vadirju Ravichandra, Tata Madhusudhan, Gundla Krishna, B Haripriya and others were present.
