Sankranti celebrations organized at RASS Seva Nilayam

Municipal MLA Gali Bhanu Prakash, RASS General Secretary Dr. S. Venkataratnam and others participating in the Sankranti celebrations at RASS Seva Nilayam in Tirupati on Sunday.

Tirupati: City MLA Gali Bhanu Prakash today presided over the grand pre-Sankranti celebrations held with traditional enthusiasm and cultural splendor at RASS Seva Nilayam in Tirupati on Sunday. The venue was decorated with colorful rangoli designs, Gobbemmalu and vibrant folk performances depicting the rural atmosphere.

The main attractions include Bhogi bonfire, Pongal cooking on the street, Gangireddula performance, Haridasu Kirtan, Jangam Devara songs and kite flying. Children enjoyed Bhogi fruits while traditional games like cock fight and Bathukamma songs of Telangana enthralled the audience. Speaking on the occasion, MLA Bhanu Prakash stressed the importance of the festival as a tribute to farmers and elders, celebrating the harvest and family ties. He appreciated RASS for promoting such spiritual and cultural activities.

RASS General Secretary Dr. S. Venkataratnam explained the significance of Makar Sankranti and shared good wishes highlighting the spiritual benefits and positive renewal of Cow Puja.

The program also included distribution of wheelchairs, walkers and blankets to 250 disabled participants. Key attendees included Joint Secretary Mamata, Women Development Chairperson Samatha, Project Director Nagaraju and KVK scientist Srinivasulu.
