Telangana: Drone deployed to monitor the Akkampalli reservoir

Hyderabad: As part of special measures initiated to monitor the Akkampalli reservoir, drones were deployed on Saturday, one of the major sources supporting the supply of drinking water in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad and Nalgonda districts.
Nalgonda District Collector Ila Tripathi and his employees visited the reservoir to assess the situation. The collector emphasized that a multi-disciplinary team has been formed, including representatives of irrigation, police, revenue, veterinary and water construction departments.
This team has been tasked to investigate the issue of dead chickens found in the reservoir.
Water samples have been sent to third party laboratories for detailed analysis. Preliminary findings indicate that chickens were left in a canal located nine kilometers from the reservoir.
“To ensure that there are no further incidents, we have deployed drones to monitor the reservoir and its surroundings. These drones will provide real -time data, allowing us to take immediate action if needed. Tripathi said that we have also established a special team from the Water Works Department to oversee this operation.
He promised that drinking water supply would remain unaffected, as the water from the reservoir goes through a three-step filtration process before distribution. Additionally, water samples are being constantly being tested to ensure quality and safety.
