Hridayapoorvam Movie Review: A Simple Story with Heart

Hyderabad: Satyan Anthikad’s Hridaypurvam is a simple, hearty film which is right for his trademark style. It is not a big, ambitious drama, but a warm story about people, emotions and other occasions.

The film follows Sandeep Balakrishnan (Mohanlal), a middle -aged person, who runs a cloud kitchen in Kochi. After a heart transplant, he is visited by Harita (Malavika Mohanan), daughter of Heart Donor, Colonel Ravi. She invites her to Pune for her engagement. When the engagement stops, things take a turn, and Sandeep ends with her acting Jerry (Sangeet Pratap), along with Harita and her mother Devika (Sangita Madhavan Nair). What starts as a strange situation gradually grows in the bond of love, trust and treatment.

Hridayapoorvam works best in its light moments. The film does not rely on a big twist or high play. Instead, it wins you with easy story and gentle humor. Even when some subplots feel unnecessary, the main spirit of the film keeps watching you. The idea of the presence of the heart donor being felt in every conversation adds an interesting layer to the story.

Mohanlal gave a good performance, which portrays Sandeep warmly and easily. His chemistry with Sangeeth Prathap is the greatest strength of the film, which brings both humor and depth. Malavika Mohanan plays her role with honesty, while Sangita stands out as a mother, which craves to understand. Supporting actors like Siddiq and Baburaj add taste, although some of their scenes feel drawn.

Satyan Anthikad once again proves that he knows how to do family plays that still feel comfortable. The direction is simple, the writing is light, and although the songs do not add much, the emotions carry through the film.

Hridaypurvam is not an ideal film, but it is an honest and feel-gud drama that speaks directly. It is now streaming on Gehotstar in Malayalam, Telugu, Hindi, Tamil and Kannada.
